The Economic Necessity of Project Seahorse

While the Primary focus of this Event is the Enjoyment and Education of the local children on the incredible marine resource of the BHB Marine Park.....It would be a SHAME not to utilize all the emotional power of this event, to acquaint the parents of the local children with the economic and life changing potential that this WORLD FAMOUS DIVE TOURISM DESTINATION could have FOR the entire community. So when we showcase the Marine life at the evening event at the Park at the Ocean Mall Singer Island, we will also Showcase the Marine Eco-Tourism potentials of Riviera Beach!!!…. Part of the Art show aspect of this, is to provide a broader overview of all the "Cottage Industries" that "should" be formed with the development of a world famous dive destination***Note***We have become a World Famous Dive Destination—so let’s DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!.

Cottage Tourism can be described as everything from “Shuttle services for groups of divers between hotels and boats” , to things like local Arts and Crafts

  • ( see http://issuu.com/passportpublications/docs/art_culture_magazine_v8i1 --- this magazine underscores the importance of an emphasis on developing MORE LOCAL ART, and what Art could do for the Riviera Beach community future... •
  • http://www.themaldivestravel.com/maldives-agriculture-and-cottage-industries.html • Tourism creates large markets for Arts & Crafts Fairs.....we see this in Island Nations, and in places much closer to home, such as in Mount Dora!

After this event runs, we will plan another in a few months. During this first event, we will run signups for a Youth Outreach Freediving Club, to be organized by Florida Freedivers and by Jim Abernethy Scuba Adventures and SFDJ. This will be kids 9 to 18….Initially snorkeling/freediving at the BHB, and then moving them to the high interest sites for freediving along the Inlet, Dupont Reef, and Breakers Shallow, and normal Breakers Reef when they advance that far ( 40 foot deep crown).

We plan on subsidizing this with powerful community support and fund raising--and of course, we need YOUR HELP with this.

Ultimately, once we have the local kids well developed in this, we will add the outlying community kids as far as Wellington and Palm Beach Gardens. Getting groups of kids sized 12 to 30 in a boat, will be socially appealing to them—In other words, this is a needed charity event that should also have big long term implications.

We get the kids to connect with our Ocean Resources, and the Communities to embrace the World Famous Dive destination that we have become….and Project Seahorse will become a focal point for “Developing the Tourism atmosphere and Image, in our sea-side communities.

With assistance from the Divers, from the Arts Council , from interested Businesses, and from the keen interest developed by the Philanthropic and Future minded on the Island of Palm Beach –we believe major changes can dramatically improve the Future—and not just for Riviera Beach, but for the entire County.

With the right push, we can bring between 200,000 and a half a million more Tourists to Palm Beach County every Summer/Fall period—when Palm Beach really needs it.
